Overview

Francine Styles receives a visit from two detectives one fateful night announcing her husband's death. She later finds out that his killer is another man that he has been having an extramarital affair with. Now she is on a mission to end the lives of men that lead a double life. A life of deception that their partners are unaware of. Witness each murder firsthand as Francine's wit and cunning continue to develop with each death. Even Fran's trusted psychiatrist is nothing more than a helpless pawn in her quest for notoriety. Unable to pinpoint her whereabouts or deduce who is next on her sadistical list of names, she is labeled "The Revlon Killer" by law enforcement and media - a name given to her based on what she does to her victims after she kills them. Like the black widow spider, she seduces her victims before killing them in cold blood!

Review

David L.'s writing style was easy to follow.  Karleshia believed that David L.'s style was more of a movie format instead of a reading format.  It was different and a welcomed changed from the norm.

The plot was creative but some members felt that at times it was too "far-fetched".  Nickie argued that extreme creativity, not being predictable and going "off the charts" was the purpose of good entertainment be it in movie or book form.

The book is filled with over-the-top emotions that draw you into the story.  You read each page wondering exactly what will Francine do next, or rather, who and how.

Although David L. provides plenty of twists and turns, many members were able to predict that the scene from the ending was going to happen at some point within the story.

Many members felt that David L.'s imagination may have ran a little far but all agreed that it was a good read and the book does a great job of capturing and holding your attention.

The book has several murderous scenes and the members gave their most memorable one:

  • Nickie & Shon - loved when she skinned the guy with all the tattoos.
  • Charlotte - when Fran set the guy on fire "stop, drop and roll"!!! (This was a fav. of Nickie's as well)
  • All members agreed that they were saddened that she murdered her best friend's girlfriend.

Everyone agreed that Fran's character was all over the place.  She definitely had issues and a sick mind.  But those characteristics made for an interesting and very entertaining book.
